2024 Opening Dates

We are normally open on the first Sunday of each month between April and October, when we hold Open Afternoons or Special Event Days.

In May and  September, these Special Event Days are themed events with lots of special activities for adults and children.  A complimentary minibus runs right up to the mill from the Thatched Inn Pub in Keymer on Special Event Days only.

The mill may be also open on our volunteer’s work day, held every Tuesday and Thursday.

The Greyhound and Thatched Inn public houses, in Keymer, welcomes Oldland Mill Trust members and offers a 10% reduction to the food bill on production of an Oldland Mill Membership card. Please find information about becoming an Oldland Mill Trust member here.

PLEASE NOTE:  There is no parking at the mill but it can be reached, with a pleasant walk, via Oldlands Lane, Keymer, or Lodge Hill Lane, Ditchling.

Volunteer’s Work Days

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, volunteers are normally at work on maintenance activities. Depending on the type of work being undertaken, a guided tour may be possible. However, due to the nature of some maintenance activities and the availability of Volunteers, we apologise that this might not always be possible.

Entry is by a Voluntary Donation of £3 per person or £5 per family.

Open Afternoons

On Open Afternoons, volunteers are available to give guided tours of the mill. Refreshments, mill gifts and memorabilia are available too.

There is not a complimentary minibus provided on Open Afternoons.

Entry is by a Voluntary Donation of £3 per person or £5 per family.

Special Event Days

On Special Event Days we run several regular activities and host varied attractions.  The mill itself is also open, with refreshments, mill gifts and memorabilia available.

A complimentary minibus, kindly provided by Burgess Hill School for Girls and Hurstpierpoint College, will be provided every 20 minutes from The Thatched Inn, Grand Avenue.  Groups can also be picked up by minibus from Hassocks Station by prior arrangement.  Please contact us if you are interested.

Entry is by a Voluntary Donation of £5 per person or £10 per family.

We always welcome new volunteers to help on these days (this may be on stalls, giving guided tours, serving refreshments etc.), or to contribute to our publicity drives and to support our fund-raising activities.  Fred Maillardet will be very pleased to hear from anyone who feels they could contribute in any way.
