Oldland Windmill is an 18th century post-mill situated in the village of Keymer in the County of West Sussex.
She is currently being restored to full working order by a dedicated team of local volunteers.

Please can you help us identify the mill in the painting below, which was shown to us by George Jones at Hassocks Village Market and was later shown at the AGM of The Jack and Jill Windmills Society.

As we have doubts as to whether the mill depicted is Oldland Windmill, we would very much welcome your thoughts as to the mill's identity and location.

The picture is signed "George Ruff Senr April 6th 1887" - this is not visible on the image below as it is obscured by the mount.

The reverse is also signed "Sunset over the Sussex Weald" and "George Ruff Senr".

Perhaps someone with access to the 1881 Census may care to search for George Ruff.
